Acai bowls are bomb! They taste good, they look stunning and they're so good for you! With spring here and the sun shining through my room every morning, this tropical acai bowl is an amazing way to start the day.
Tropical Acai Bowl
The berries are found in the Amazon rain forest in Brazil and grow in huge clusters near the tops of palm trees. It is considered one of the top superfoods due to its incredible antioxidant properties. Acai has been recognized as one of the world’s highest ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity) foods, in fact it has more than double the antioxidants of blueberries and nearly ten times that of grapes!
Acai has numerous other health benefits:
- The fiber found in Acai berry skin and pulp can aid digestion.
- Acai is naturally high in essential fatty acids. The link between essential fatty acids and heart health and a healthy nervous system is well documented.
- Acai berries contain amino acids which help promote muscle performance, energy production, endurance and strength.
- Acai berries contain as much Vitamin C as blueberries and is also a source of Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3 and E. It is also a source of calcium, magnesium, zinc and copper.
I was so excited to make eat this thing, that I forgot to take photos of the process of me making it....whoops!
Thankfully it's super easy.
In the blender I throw in two of the Zambazon Smoothie Packs (unsweetened), along with a frozen banana (broken into chunks) and 1/2 of almond milk. Blend until smoothie bowl consistency.
Pour into your bowl and garnish as you please! For me I did toasted coconut, chia seeds, organic granola, banana, raspberries, dragon fruit balls and Kiwi.
So, Freakin. Good. !!!!
